Rumor On Another Change Made To The Upcoming WWE PPV Schedule

It was rumored a few days ago that WWE was scrapping the plans for the Backlash PPV in June. The event was originally scheduled for June 16th in San Diego. The rumor was that it was getting scrapped because WWE was moving the next Saudi Arabia PPV to June 7th. This would have meant that two PPV events would happen in the span of 9 days.

It looks like Backlash isn’t getting completely scrapped but is now getting rescheduled.

According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio (subscribe here), Backlash will now be taking place on June 23rd in Tacoma, Washington. Here is a quote from Meltzer (via Ringside News):

“The San Diego pay-per-view which was Backlash for June 16th is now a house show. They didn’t want to do — I guess the idea is they didn’t want to do two pay-per-views in a row… two weekends in a row it would have been June 7th and the 16th so they moved the Backlash to the 23rd and they’re booking it in Tacoma on the 23rd and San Diego getting a house show.”

My Take: This is definitely better than doing two PPV events in 9 days. This still seems too close together though. I would maybe just do the one PPV in June and wait until Extreme Rules in July. No need to force in an extra PPV if you don’t have to.
