As of right now, the New Day does not have any clear challengers for their Smackdown Tag Team Titles. Xavier Woods and Big E were on commentary for Smackdown this week but didn’t end up getting involved with any other tag teams.
The big question is, will the New Day end up on the Summerslam card? Or will WWE have them start a new feud after Summerslam is over?
We have a note to pass your way about a match that was recently pitched for the New Day at Summerslam.
According to Dave Meltzer in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (subscribe here), there was a pitch for the New Day to face off against Samoa Joe and Elias at Summerslam.
Nothing on Smackdown hinted at this match happening. As a result, it sounds like WWE has decided to scrap those plans. Still, it would make some sense since Joe has been feuding with Kofi Kingston for the past few weeks. Elias, on the other hand, is a bit of a random inclusion.
We will let you know if anything changes.
