Vince McMahon returned to WWE television a few weeks ago to confront Kevin Owens. The WWE Chairman ended up taking a headbutt (that busted him open), a superkick and a frog splash in the segment. So how did the WWE locker room react to their boss taking bumps at the age of 72?
Roman Reigns was recently a guest on the ‘In This Corner’ Podcast hosted by CBS Sports. He was asked about the WWE locker room’s reaction to the segment. Here is what he said:
“I think it’s one of those situations where it’s a leading by example. When you see the CEO, your boss out there, getting shoot head-butted and thrown around at his age, it comes back to the word ‘passion.’ You don’t have to be out there. Let’s be honest, does he really have to do that stuff?”
Reigns says that it helps motivate the guys and girls in the locker room:
“I just think it kind of sets the tone and it makes everybody motivated because I’ve been out there with the boss, KO has [now] been out there with the boss. People want to be out there with him, man. It says something. It elevates you, and that’s what it’s all about — riding this escalator and continually growing and letting your star rise and sometimes the boss has to come out and help that situation.
I just think it goes to show that even at that age, with any kind of health issues — I know he has had hip replacements, hell, he has had all sorts of injuries throughout the years — he still wants to go out there. For me, that’s just motivation and inspiration.”
