Greg Seibert was recently interviewed by Bleacher Report. Seibert was the Football coach for Roman Reigns while he attended Pensacola Catholic High School. Before he was Roman Reigns, he was a great football player known as Joe Anoa’i.
First, Seibert spoke about Reigns as Football player. He says that in High School, he was feared by a lot of the other players. Reigns would go on to play Division 1 Football at Georgia Tech before making his way to some NFL training camps. He also had a cup of coffee in the CFL.
As we know now, Reigns would get into professional wrestling and has become a big star. Seibert shared his reaction when he saw Reigns on Monday Night RAW for the first time:
“Oh, my God. There’s Joe Anoa’i. There’s the kid who used to lift weights in our weight room. The kid I tried to teach in class. He’s the kid I couldn’t get to behave”
He also gave some insight into what Reigns is like outside of the ring:
“I know that Joe is playing a character. He’s fiercely loyal to the people that are loyal to him. If you’re hating Joe’s character on TV, then Joe and the WWE are winning. If you’re still turning on [the TV] to see what he’s going to do, then he’s done his job as it’s being asked to do”
