Pro Wrestling Illustrated has ranked the top 500 pro-wrestlers in the world since 1991. Their rankings are based on who has had the best year in pro-wrestling based on a wide variety of factors. Legendary names like: Bret Hart, Steve Austin, John Cena and AJ Styles have taken up the number one spot in years past. This years number one spot on the list is sure to ruffle some feathers.
They announced that Roman Reigns was their selection for the number 1 ranked wrestler in the world for 2016. As most wrestling fans know, Reigns has had an interesting year to say the least. Over the past year he has won the WWE Championship 3 times. He has also had some great matches including two highly regarded contests with AJ Styles. He still remains disliked in the eyes of many fans.
Here is what Reigns said about being named the number one wrestler in the world and his haters:

Ha! I love it. If you join in on the chats we have for Raw/Smackdown/PPV then you already know that I’ve been a supporter of Reigns ever since it has been the “cool thing” to do to hate on him. He deserves this award.
Even though I’m a Reigns fan, there are many other names I would have put as #1; Seth Rollins, Finn Bálor, Jay Lethal, Adam Cole, Samoa Joe, Shinsuke Nakamura.
