This week’s episode of Monday Night RAW ended with Ronda Rousey putting a vicious beating on Becky Lynch. This included multiple stiff shots and armbars before the show went off the air.
We have some more details to pass your way about Ronda’s attack on Becky.
This comes via Dave Meltzer in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter (subscribe here).
According to Meltzer, Ronda was told prior to the attack to do everything that she would do in a real fight. The only things that she was told to avoid were any punches or kicks to the face. The idea was to obviously not hurt Becky but to sell the realness of the angle. It was also to sell that Becky was able to take Ronda’s best shots and was able to come back the next day.
It appears as if WWE is going the extra mile to sell the realness of this feud. Ronda told Charlotte Flair to hit her as hard as she could with the kendo stick after their match at the Royal Rumble. Similarly, Becky was told by both Charlotte and Ronda to hit them as hard as she could with the crutches a few weeks ago.
My Take: I do appreciate these ladies going all-out to sell this angle. Fans feel as if there is some legit hatred between them all, so it seems to be working. I am excited to see things ramp up over the next few weeks as we get closer to Wrestlemania.
