The big shock over the weekend in the wrestling world was the release of 3 WWE superstars: Emma, Summer Rae and Darren Young. The most surprising was Emma, who had just been coming off of a Pay-Per-View match against Asuka at TLC.
So why did Emma ultimately get released from the company? Here are some more details on her release.
According to a report from Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated, it was due to some conflict within the company.
Barrasso claims that the “writing on the wall for [Emma’s] departure has been in place for some time, as she had considerable heat within the company.” Specifically, he says that Emma had made some enemies on the writing staff, which had to do with her speaking out on Twitter occasionally (an example might be when she tweeted about not getting opportunities like the other women on RAW).
The report also says that the decision for the releases was made on Friday during Vince McMahon’s routine budget meeting. Emma and the other released talent were told on Sunday before they had to start their travel to RAW.
It is clear that Emma wasn’t in the bad books with most of the WWE locker room. After Lio Rush made a joke about her release, we saw multiple WWE stars take to Twitter in her defense.
As for Emma’s future, Barrasso says that: “The doors remain open for a return”
