Ronda Rousey has had a pretty incredible first-year in WWE. This includes some great matches at Wrestlemania 34 and at Survivor Series.
There have been rumors about Ronda’s potential opponent at Wrestlemania 35 for several months now. Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch are the two names that have come up the most.
So what were the original plans for Ronda at Wrestlemania 35?
According to Dave Meltzer in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter (subscribe here), Ronda was originally set to face Natalya at Wrestlemania 35.
This would have come after Natalya turned heel on Ronda. Meltzer says that after Jim Neidhart’s death, Vince McMahon decided that he couldn’t turn Natalya heel. He also says that there were some people backstage still pushing for the turn from Natalya but those plans were ultimately scrapped.
It was also expected at one point that Ronda would face Charlotte Flair at Wrestlemania but those plans have also changed.
