Report On The Backstage Reaction To Paul Heyman & Eric Bischoff’s New Roles In WWE

The big news broke on Thursday that Paul Heyman and Eric Bischoff have been named Executive Directors in WWE. They will now be in charge of RAW and Smackdown moving forward.

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful has provided some additional details about the situation. Specifically, about the backstage reaction to this news.

Sapp says that he reached out to several WWE employees and they were all very surprised by this news. He says that none of them had even heard about this coming.

An interesting note is that some backstage have questioned why Triple H wasn’t considered for one of the roles. Here is an excerpt from Sapp:

The first reaction was a longtime WWE wrestler wondering aloud why Triple H wasn’t set for one of the roles, and another saying that was some of the immediate chatter that they had heard. Another wrestler compared it to Shane McMahon wanting to improve his spot in the company but being bypassed, but we should note, this was simply discussion and chatter about why Triple H wasn’t moved into the role, without much to add to it.

The report also says that there are some in WWE who are pessimistic about the move. One person said that “Vince is still in charge, so that’s all you really need to know”. Another added that things couldn’t be worse than how it has been lately.
