If you are a follower of Matt Hardy on social media, you know that he has made some cryptic posts over the past few weeks. These posts have left fans wondering if he is going to be retiring. Matt and Bray Wyatt lost their chance at the Raw Tag Team Championships on Monday night. After the match, Matt said “goodbye” to Bray, which felt like it meant they are splitting up as a team.
We have an update for you on Matt’s WWE future.
According to the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter (subscribe here), Matt Hardy will be taking some time off to heal various injuries. It also looks like the team of Bray and Matt is indeed finished.
The report says that while Matt is taking time off, there is talk of him shadowing producers backstage in WWE. This would be in order for him to learn the ropes for a future role as a WWE producer.
After Hardy has some treatments done, a decision will be made on whether he can return and in what type of schedule or capacity.
Our Take: I think that Matt would be a great asset for WWE as a producer. This is due to his experience in the ring and also his ability to constantly reinvent himself. There is no doubt that Matt has some major mileage on his body from some of the crazy matches that he has been a part of in his career. I wouldn’t be surprised to see him hang up the boots and transition into more of a backstage role.
