Renee Young Responds To If Her Marriage To Dean Ambrose Will Affect Her Commentary On RAW

Renee Young was recently interviewed by Richard Deitsch on his Sports Media podcast. Renee spoke about her recent promotion to being a full-time commentator on Monday Night RAW. During the interview, she was asked how her marriage to Dean Ambrose may affect her commentary on RAW.

Here is what she said (h/t to Cageside Seats for the quotes below):

”Well, to be honest, it has not come up yet. So, in the three times that I’ve called Monday Night Raw the first time just so happened to be the night that Dean Ambrose was making his triumphant return from a terrible triceps surgery. So he was coming back but luckily for me it was such a quick thing, very end of the show, big, big reaction, and it made more sense for me to not say anything during that moment because I don’t think anything I could have said during that would have added to the story we’re telling with him coming back. I didn’t want to be a distraction for that. And the last two times it’s been quick stuff with The Shield, or tag matches with Seth (Rollins). So there’s not really been a moment yet of him just doing a singles match or having like a full 20 minute tag match that I can kind of chime in on. So far it’s been stuff with The Shield vs. Braun Strowman, Dolph Ziggler, and Drew McIntyre where we’re kind of looking at The Shield as a whole and this other new unit as a whole, so it’s not really come up like ‘hey, what’s Dean Ambrose’s problem?’

”I’m not sure how that’s going to go yet. I’ve definitely been thinking about it but I’m not… I just don’t know. I don’t want it to be a thing that gets in the way or becomes a little bit too like ‘oh my gosh, you’re his wife, let’s take her hostage’ and make me part of the storyline. I think I would prefer to stay away from stuff like that. But, of course, listen, we work for WWE and things happen. I’m game to roll with whatever comes down my way and, like you said, we’ve done that before. We’ve done it with Miz & Maryse where it’s come up, we’ve been on Total Divas together before, but at this point in where we both are in our careers, I’m not sure how that’s going to shake out.

”So, yeah, I guess stay tuned. Ha ha. I’m hoping to do it justice, I’m hoping to do him justice. Man, he is… he lives and breathes professional wrestling. He’s someone who has listened and watched it for as long as he can remember. So I’m hoping that with this new role and this spotlight that’s been shone on everything I’m like ‘alright, here we go, it’s time to do the family proud!’”
