RAW Viewership Numbers Up From Last Week, Down BIG From Same Time Last Year

RAW April 4 2016

The RAW after WrestleMania is usually the biggest RAW of the year. We got to see some surprise debuts like Apollo Crews and Tag Team Enzo Amore and Colin Cassady. We also got to see Shane McMahon running the show from behind the scenes. The highlight of the night was the fatal 4-way match between AJ Styles, Kevin Owens, Chris Jericho and the returning Cesaro in a number one contenders match for Roman Reigns’ WWE Heavyweight Championship. How were the viewership numbers for this weeks episode of RAW?

According to WrestlingInc, RAW After WrestleMania 32 hit over 4 million viewers. To be exact, it averaged 4.093 million viewers for the full 3 hours, hitting a peak of 4.287 in the first hour. This is up from last weeks RAW which averaged just over 3.7 million viewers for the show. The increase in rating makes sense, considering the RAW after Mania is one of the best shows of the year!

This is down over 25% from the RAW after WrestleMania 31, which averaged over 5 million viewers. I think the huge drop can be attributed to technology growing and people simply consuming their media differently. Some of the highlight videos posted by the WWE last night already almost have 1, 000, 000 views in less than 24 hours. Clearly there is still  a demand for the product. I feel like the WWE is getting less and less concerned with cable tv ratings.
