Welcome to the second largest party of the summers review, welcome to THE N-X-T RawView. You asked for it and now you get it, my NXT Takeover Brooklyn III predictions. How crazy is it that NXT has been around this long now and how successful has it been? This may be the strongest NXT Takeover card since last year’s NXT Brooklyn. You have a WWE style NXT title match and a Women’s title match that is really headlining this show. So let’s just right into it.
NXT Takeover Brooklyn III predictions!
Johnny Gargano vs. Andrade “Cien” Almas:
I actually think this may be the toughest match on the card to predict. On one hand this is Gargano’s first single’s network special match. On the other hand Almas is in the midst of a heel turn and has a new valet with him. I expect this match to open the show and get the crowd red-hot. I think Gargano still has a while left in NXT and because of that and the new valet I’m going to say Almas will be winning this match. Likely with some cheating from Zelina and Almas hits his finisher while Gargano is distracted. Expect Gargano to look great even in the loss though and don’t expect him on the main roster anytime soon.
Winner: Andrade “Cien” Almas
Sanity vs. Authors of Pain (NXT Tag Team Title Match)
If you have followed me on twitter for any time now you know that I think Authors of Pain could be a special tag team on the main roster. They have a great look and there is a huge need right now on the main roster for a team like them. Sanity has been around now for what seems like forever and hasn’t really picked up many big wins. Nikki Cross has fallen short, Eric Young has fallen short and now Sanity gets the shot at AOP.
If it were me I would have Authors of Pain come out in two weeks when “Breezango” comes back and have AOP destroy them and reveal they have been beating them down in those backstage segments. AOP has held the NXT tag titles for about seven months and typically NXT like to keep things fresh so I see a title change here with Sanity winning the tag titles. Maybe this could lead to a Sanity vs. Team ROH feud over multiple titles in the future.
Winners & New Champions: Sanity
Aleister Black vs. Hideo Itami:
While this match is fairly easy to predict I’m most excited about this match. This match has the opportunity to steal the show and really solidify Black. On my twitter weekly I hear people say that Alesiter Black has no ceiling and he is destined for greatness. I pump the brakes and not because I don’t find it true but more so because gimmicks don’t’ always translate as well on the bigger stage. (See Bayley) Where the bigger stage is more about a presence, promo and look and less about in ring work the smaller stage allows for characters to feel bigger and utilize in ring work to get talent over. Alexa and Carmella leaps and bounds better on the main roster than NXT why? Their strengths play to the bigger stage and not the smaller stage. Some guys have the whole package on both see Kevin Owens, Finn Balor and Charlotte. They are all great in the ring but have the presence, promo and look that you absolutely NEED for the casual audience and the bigger stage.
With all that said, so far Black’s presentation has been there and he has a different look not bad but different. He reminds some of CM Punk (it’s the tattoos and his size). I’m interested to see how he does against an elite talent like Hideo Itami in the ring. Don’t get me wrong I’m not against Black or don’t think he can be great I just want to see more that’s all. This match will likely steal the show and Black will get the victory as he should.
Winner: Aleister Black
