In an article for MMA Fighting, Dave Meltzer wrote about the future of Cain Velasquez in pro-wrestling. Meltzer says that Velasquez recently met with WWE officials to discuss him potentially joining the company.
For those who don’t know, Velasquez is a former UFC Heavyweight Champion and has wrestled two matches for AAA.
Here is what Meltzer said about WWE’s pitch to Cain:
The key to the WWE offer would be building a showdown with Brock Lesnar, the WWE’s highest-paid wrestler, and the 2010 fight where Velasquez beat Lesnar to win the UFC championship.
WWE sources said Velasquez, 37, would likely undergo knee surgery prior to any type of long-term commitment with a pro wrestling company.
