The major story broke on Tuesday afternoon that Big Cass was released from WWE. This came as a surprise since he had just wrestled a PPV match on Sunday at Money in the Bank against Daniel Bryan.
There are some new details floating around about why Cass was released by WWE.
Sports Illustrated is reporting that Cass was released due to “personal conduct issues”. The report alleges that Big Cass was drinking for the majority of the recent European tour. It also claims that he had some attitude issues when drunk and being intoxicated in public is one of the reasons that WWE brass was down on Cass.
Ryan Satin of Pro Wrestling Sheet reports that Cass was released for a mixture of different reasons. According to Satin, one incident happened on a WWE tour bus. Cass was locked in the bathroom of the bus and didn’t know that the lock was broken. Cass thought that he was being pranked so he broke down the door (since he was a mix of mad and claustrophobic). This led to people on the bus having to use the bathroom with the door open. Some of the people on the bus were understanding, others weren’t happy with him. Satin adds that there were also some unverified minor incidents that seemed to have been the final straw for him.
There was also a report from several weeks ago that Cass had some backstage heat for going off script. Satin says that this is when things started going downhill for Cass. You can read more about that here.
Update: Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful adds that there are stories floating around about Cass being confrontational backstage. He also apparently attempted to kick some visitors out of the locker room area that were well-known. Sapp also says that Cass had some heat on him from both WWE management and from some of the wrestlers.
