New Rumor On Matt Hardy’s Future After WWE

According to Dave Meltzer in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter (subscribe here), Matt Hardy is expected to leave WWE when his contract expires in March.

Matt apparently pitched the idea for his “Free the Delete” series to lead to the return of his ‘Broken’ character to WWE television. Unfortunately, WWE wasn’t interested in that.

Meltzer says that Matt is now being speculated as the potential leader of the ‘Dark Order’ faction in AEW. Here is what Meltzer wrote:

Matt Hardy is expected to leave WWE in March. He produced new Broken videos and offered an idea for a “Free the Delete” series to lead to his return with the old character. But they weren’t interested.

Hardy is the leading speculated name for the leader of the Dark Order since they just started teasing a leader and Hardy just started putting out the videos.

My Take:

  • I definitely wouldn’t be surprised to see Matt end up in AEW. He is friends with The Young Bucks and the company seems to really value creative freedom for their performers. It seems like a natural fit for someone like Matt, who clearly loves creating.
