It was reported this week that Kevin Owens and Aleister Black will not be making the trip to Saudi Arabia for the WWE Super Showdown PPV.
In the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter (subscribe here), Dave Meltzer provided some more details on Black and Owens not making the trip.
According to Meltzer, Owens was asked by his family to not participate in the event.
Owens asked to be taken off the show and WWE reportedly took it well. They didn’t ask him why he didn’t want to go and they also didn’t put any pressure on him to change his mind.
As for Aleister Black, Meltzer says that it wasn’t his decision. The reason has to do with some of Black’s tattoos that are “religious in nature”.
It is unclear if Saudi Arabia told WWE not to bring Black because of the tattoos or if WWE made the decision themselves.
We will let you know if we hear anything else.
