In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (subscribe here), Dave Meltzer spoke about some of the changes that Paul Heyman is planning for RAW.
This comes after Heyman was recently announced as the ‘Executive Director’ of RAW. This is a role where he is expected to have a lot of creative input.
Here is what Meltzer wrote about changes that Heyman is planning for RAW:
Paul Heyman for Raw is trying to go with the idea of having backstage interviews have less of the fake dialogue and come across more realistic, and that there would be more consequences, essentially what AEW promises with the idea that wins and losses will matter and that angles won’t just be forgotten and dropped, and if someone gets hurt one week they won’t be fine the next week.
My Take: I am feeling optimistic with Heyman in charge of RAW. I have enjoyed the past few episodes and I hope that the show keeps the momentum going. Less scripted promos/interviews and making wins and losses matter is something that WWE needs to do.
