Over the past year, the WWE has been dealing with an insane amount of injuries to some of their top stars. Seth Rollins, John Cena, Randy Orton, Bray Wyatt, Tyson Kidd, Cesaro and many more have missed significant time due to some sort of injury. It has had a lot of fans wondering if the WWE needs an off-season for their stars as they work every week of the year. Kevin Owens summed up perfectly why the WWE needs an off-season, stating on twitter that he has been on the road for over a month:

The WWE is coming off their European tour which saw shows pretty much every single day for the past 2 weeks. It is hard to deny that WWE stars have an insane schedule and these guys sacrifice a lot. Wrestling 5 days a week with constant travel can’t be easy on the body.
I understand that the wrestling business has always been like that and some guys in the older generations would wrestle more than this. When will it be enough though and we try and protect these guys? I think a couple weeks off here and there would be incredible for some of these athletes bodies. A month on the road, even if he wasn’t wrestling every night, still takes a toll on the body and can set you up for freak injuries like we have seen. It is a tough debate because fans want to see certain stars at every live event and if the WWE starts limiting the schedule, the shows will get thinner and thinner.
Would love to hear people’s opinions on this topic! Let us know in the comment section where your stance is for the WWE and an off-season or limited schedule for these guys.
They definantly need an off-season. Even if its just 1 month(2 months preferably) a year. The wrestlers deserve at least that much.
IDK if they need an offseason so much as they just need to cut back on house shows. ive heard reports of house shows losing money at the gate. they make up a lot of money up by splitting concessions and merchandise.
I would have the crew work:
RAW (mon)
SD (tues),
House show (wed),
Rotate a different crew in for a thurs house show. (work one thurs, off the next. work one thurs, off the next. so on and so forth…)
and I would cut Friday & give the crew Fri-Sun off, w/ the exemption of PPV sunday.
essentially, the crew gets 3-4 days off a week, depending on their thurs rotation & PPV.
one week per month the crew may have to work a 5 day week. again, depending on thurs rotation and when and if that week falls on PPV sunday.
and if talents want to work more, they can request to be booked on house shows.
I think it works out for everyone involved. it *may* hit WWE in the pocket SLIGHTLY. but its worth it to have a healthy crew that’s not being pounded into the ground 5-6 nights a week. talents get to spend more time w/ their families & recuperating.
again, if there are those talents who like being on the road and working everyday… they can simply request to work all available dates. but I don’t think any of the crew would complain about Fridays off and a 3 day weekend. that’s just protecting your (WWE) assets from themselves.
the best ability is availability.
secondly, you don’t have to have seasons…. just book certain guys in top stories, and those that aren’t involved get a week, 2 weeks off until one angle wraps up. then once a new angle starts… the guys in the previous angle take a week, 2 weeks off.
again, I don’t even think the wrestlers want a season… they just want a lighter load. a day here, a day there… a longer weekend would suffice , I believe.
What they need to do is rotate and push other talent. They have so many people who sit around with little to do. If they could spend sometime building rivalries between mid card guys they rotate performers much more giving them more time to rest between big shows.
