According to Dave Meltzer in the latest edition of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter (subscribe here), there is a major match planned for John Cena at Wrestlemania 34. There was some initial speculation that we could see AJ Styles vs John Cena for the WWE Title but Meltzer says that this is not the direction WWE is going with Cena. This would have been for Cena to break the record of Ric Flair.
Meltzer says that Cena will be “in a much bigger match than Styles.”
Meltzer says that he doesn’t know exactly who Cena will be facing, but made it clear that it will be someone major. The opponent will be made clear within the next several weeks. The names that Meltzer came up with are the following:
- Undertaker
- Batista
- Goldberg
- Hulk Hogan (highly unlikely due to his back problems and current standing with WWE).
Meltzer guesses that a few Wrestlemania 34 storylines will likely begin during the 25th anniversary of RAW episode in January.

Based on the information from Meltzer, we are going to guess it will be the Undertaker. He is already confirmed for the 25th anniversary of RAW show and WWE hasn’t made his retirement official yet.

There is only one match for styles at mania — nakamura.
