Some vocal fans during the main event of WWE Extreme Rules chanted ‘You Can’t Wrestle’ towards Roman Reigns. They also mixed in some ‘You Still Suck’ chants towards the current WWE Heavyweight Champion. Reigns ended up defeating AJ Styles to retain his WWE Heavyweight Championship in a good match. Jim Ross on his website (JRSBARBQ.com) discussed these chants, calling them an embarrassment.

“The live audience chanting “You Can’t Wrestle” at Roman Reigns was an embarrassment. Fans don’t have to like a talent if that’s their choice but to express such a snarky, “listen to me” chant just doesn’t seem like a good thing. At times, these chants feel that they are from self absorbed, attention starved fans who feel compelled to make sure that everyone within ear shot knows how they feel. I get the theory that if I pay my money I can say whatever it is that I want but is that actually necessary? Obviously these fans don’t feel so strongly about their opinions that they do not attend said events. Pro wrestling is a unique animal in as much as many of its die hard fans actually get THAT upset over a show business presentation based on fictional storylines and TV personas” (Source: JRSBARBQ).
I agree with JR on the point that if fans are that upset about the product they can choose not to watch. They still attend the events and I don’t think the WWE cares what you think of Reigns as long as they keep selling out shows and gaining fan reactions.
I also think it is a bit silly to say Reigns can’t wrestle. He has put on a number of good matches over the past couple months. The chants are more just frustration from fans who don’t want him as the top guy but I don’t know if many actually believe he is a very poor wrestler. “You can’t wrestle” seems like a bit of a stretch, to me at least!

Im really enjoying the fact that big names in the wrestling business have Romans back. Like I said in a recent post, WWE trolls are too stupid to understand how to send a message.
I totally disagree.
Right now we have a WWE with most potential ever: Styles, Owens, Zayn, Ambrose, Rollins, Apollo Crews, Vaudevillains, Enzo, Big Cass, Anderson, Gallows, Nakamura, Sasha, Becky, Charlotte and many others. Would be stupid if we chose to not watch these kind of performers. But there’s a “top player” who clearly is still far from the high level of those athletes. And he’s still shoved in our throats, just like they did with Cena. This is wrong. This is sick. This is frustrating. And if the only way to show how much we don’t like this situation is to boo and yell, we’re gonna go this way.
Boo’ing and yelling is the wrong message. Primo & Epico gets total silence from the crowd. And thats how you send a message.
Primo & Epico got total silence (as Los Matadores) cause they were unimpressive but at least they didn’t jump in title shots. Yelling is a clear message: Stop fuckin up Roman Reigns, stop fuckin up the entire WWE.
Roman gets the ENTIRE arena to boo him. I dont think you understand how special that is. It takes a real talent to be able to pull something like that off.
You’re trollin, right? When you’re supposed to be the top face of the company (And they buried anyone in order to make this happen) and all you get is boos instead of cheers, well, buddy: something’s really wrong.
Not trolling at all. If he can get the entire arena to hate him, then there is something special going on. For example, Stardust couldnt get 35% of any arena to cheer/hate him. New Day, Enzo & Cass can get the entire arena to cheer them. Some people have it, some dont.
Roman is a heel whether you like it or not, whether its official or not.

A lot of wrestling fans hate the product because their “personal favorite” wrestler isnt the top guy/champion. Currently, in the NBA, the Lakers & Spurs are my favorite teams. Both teams are not in the Finals but I still enjoy watching the playoffs. Just because my “personal favorite” teams arent the top team/previous champion doesnt mean i should bash the NBA and talk about how much Steph Curry is shoved down our throats. Do you get my point?
