Jim Cornette – Explains Why WWE Has Never Had A ‘WarGames’ Match

On a recent episode of: Jim Cornette’s Drive-Thru, the always outspoken Jim Cornette was asked why there has never been a ‘WarGames’ match in WWE. For those that don’t remember, the match type first appeared in the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA).

The match eventually became a staple of World Championship Wrestling (WCW), where it would be held yearly at their Fall Brawl Pay-Per-View.

Here is why Cornette says Vince McMahon never used the ‘WarGames’ match in WWE:

“The WarGames I heard because of production. Kevin Dunn or whoever it was said that it was hard to shoot for television, pay-per-view, or whatever. [It was] hard to follow for people. I actually don’t remember truthfully whether Vince has ever mentioned WarGames in my presence or not. Cause it’s always just like a thing like: don’t pitch that, we’re not doing that.”

Co-host: Brian Last says that there were rumors Triple H pitched the match but Vince didn’t want anything to do with it because he didn’t create the idea:

“I don’t know […] And I just can’t remember truthfully, it seems to be odd to me that I would have been sitting at [Vince McMahon’s] table for two years and never pitched WarGames to him. And I’m trying to remember if I did and if he gave me a reason why not. It’s just so much stuff. I can’t remember. He apparently don’t like it, or ain’t gonna do it.”

It looks like a mixture of the match being difficult to shoot and Vince not being the one to come up with it as the main reasons why.
