Interesting Update About The Roman Reigns and Kevin Owens Feud

As noted prior, WWE United States Champion: Roman Reigns is scheduled to face WWE Universal Champion: Kevin Owens at the upcoming Roadblock PPV event. The two have been feuding for the past several weeks on RAW alongside Seth Rollins and Chris Jericho (who will also likely face-off at the event). The match hasn’t been officially announced but things are trending towards this.

Owens and Reigns and currently facing off against each other at WWE live events. This is completely normal for two people that are currently feuding. What isn’t normal, is how the WWE is treating Kevin Owens.

There are a few things that are interesting about the matches between Reigns and Owens at live events:

  • Their matches are for the WWE United States Championship, instead of the WWE Universal Championship.
  • Reigns is winning all of the matches clean, pinning RAW’s World Champion every single night and retaining his belt.

It can be argued that because these matches aren’t seen on TV and generally don’t matter. The babyfaces usually win most of the matches to send the live crowd home happy. The problem is, having your WWE Universal belt NOT defended and the champion losing clean does a lot to hurt the credibility of the title.

For reference, WWE World Champion AJ Styles has been winning all of his recent matches at live events against Dean Ambrose to retain his title. From reports, Ambrose hits him with ‘Dirty Deeds’ after the matches to send the crowd home happy. This keeps Aj Styles looking like a strong champion but also makes Dean look good. In the situation with Owens, he is just looking very weak.

  1. The live events are widely overlooked, but the way they are using Owens does make him and the Universal belt look weak. Fight Owens Fight has died a quiet death and has been forgotten and what is left is a shell of the former NXT champ. He has the same mouth and sense of humor. He is wonderful on the mic and his facial expressions and body language help him sell his message. He is as good as anybody I’ve ever seen on the mic, outside of The Rock of course. Rocky was in a league of his own. Even televised events show Owens as a paper champ. Needed HHH to win the belt. Needs Jericho to help him win. Needs to cheat and to get disqualified to hold onto the belt. HHH hands him the belt and then doesn’t return to back up his choice for champ. Missed opportunity there. Reigns is one of my favorites, unfortunately, nobody likes him any more. I don’t get it, but that’s the WWE. Fans turn for no reason and the next thing you know you are Bray Wyatt.

  2. KO’s run has been pretty good too me. He’s put on hell of some matches as WWE champ.

When Seth Rollins was champ , he was losing to John Cena at house shows in non-title matches. I personally watched it at house show.
