Velveteen Dream was attacked by the Undisputed Era on NXT this week. As a result, he will not be able to face Roderick Strong for the NXT North American Championship. This appears to be a legitimate injury for Dream and not just one for the storyline.
In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (subscribe here), Dave Meltzer provided an injury update on Dream.
Here is what Meltzer wrote:
Velveteen Dream being pulled from wrestling is due to a back injury. He’s been working with the injury for some time and it’s gotten serious enough to pull him off, even before his rematch with Roderick Strong that was scheduled for 10/23’s TV show. They shot an angle where the Undisputed Era took him out and William Regal said he wouldn’t be back in action for a long time
My Take: My hope is that Dream will be back for NXT Takeover: WarGames next month. Back injuries can be tricky though so we will let you know if we hear anything more.
