Brock Lesnar, the Beast Incarnate, the one in 21-1, squaring off with the man that has always had his number: The Face of WCW, the man that lead WCW in the Monday Night Wars, the man that has gone 173-0, Goldberg at the “Showcase of Immortals,” WrestleMania. On paper, Goldberg vs Brock Lesnar III seems like it has the potential of being a classic, and furthers the saga between these two legends in pro wrestling.
Not only that, Goldberg has a match at WWE Fastlane against Kevin Owens for the WWE Universal Title. If Goldberg wins, then he will be facing Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania for the Universal title. What could be so wrong with that? Well….there has been similar opinions across the WWE Universe/ IWC, and they are not looking forward to this match, including myself. Today, let’s take a look at some reasons why Goldberg vs Brock Lesnar for the WWE Universal Title at WrestleMania 33 shouldn’t happen.
Reason #5 – New Era, Same Old Thing
Apart from SmackDown, which appears to be doing well with their storylines and champions, RAW is falling under the same formula that WWE has used even before the “New Era” occurred. This formula everyone has become accustomed to, and that is relying on WWE legends and part-time wrestlers to sell out arenas and for big draw matches to occur. Now, had the WWE not been pushing the “New Era” like crazy, I would not have a big problem with the formula being used, although it would still be a bit of a problem.
It seems like the WWE has a lack of faith in the younger stars. This is an issue as these younger stars are going to start leading the WWE into the future, because no one is going to be around forever.
Imagine the toll that is given to the younger stars, their boss doesn’t trust them to carry the company when they work really hard to get to where they were today. It is a sad formula and I hope Vince breaks it really soon.
