You might remember the love triangle on WWE television back in the early 2000’s involving Triple H, Stephanie McMahon and Kurt Angle. The idea was that Stephanie would leave Triple H for Angle. This would have garnered Triple H sympathy from fans while turning Angle into one of the hottest heels in the company at the time.
The storyline was scrapped and Stephanie sided with Triple H. This was a disappointment for a lot of fans that loved the storyline and wanted to see it come to a better conclusion.
So why was it scrapped? According to Dave Meltzer, Triple H said it wasn’t believable that a woman would leave him for someone like Kurt Angle….

HHH told the writers that it wouldn’t be believable that a woman would leave him for Kurt, and thus, for credibility’s sake, it had to end https://t.co/P2rz8ByifO

Gives us a bit of insight into the ego of Triple H at the time. It is a shame that this storyline never had a better conclusion as it was extremely popular at the time and was gaining a lot of steam with fans.

That was one of the best storylines of the Attitude Era. I think if they hadn’t started out with Steph/HHH being affectionate with each other, that the marriage was strictly business, the angle would’ve been even more interesting.
