Former WWE writer Jimmy Jacobs was recently a guest on Chris Jericho’s podcast: ‘Talk is Jericho’. During the interview, he spoke on a wide variety of topics, including his stint with WWE that lasted 2 and a half years. Jacobs made headlines after being fired for taking a photo with the Bullet Club outside of RAW during their ‘invasion’.
During the interview, Jacobs spoke about writing promos for talent and presenting them to Vince McMahon.
Jacobs says that he would sometimes try to perform the promo to Vince himself before handing him what he wrote.

Here is what Jacobs said on the podcast, giving some insight into how Vince views promos:
“I always tried to deliver it to him, but a lot of times he would just ask for the paper. Vince had a critical eye when it came to promos and he was big on words, and rightfully so. In Vince’s mind, sometimes I think the promos get flack from fans. In Vince’s mind, if you just left it for the performer to say what he wants to say, everybody is just going to say that I am going to kick your a**. Vince is very big on having creativity in there. I always felt that he had a very sharp eye and so sometimes I felt that my words, just by themselves wouldn’t hold up, so I always liked to perform them to Vince, and sometimes he liked them, sometimes he didn’t.”
