With the Brand Split and the success of the Cruiserweight Classic, the WWE has announced that a RAW Cruiserweight division is coming soon. We still don’t know much about the division other than the fact that it will be exclusively on RAW. Eric Bischoff on an episode of his podcast: Bischoff On Wrestling, spoke about a wide variety of topics in the world of professional wrestling. One of these topics was how he would book the upcoming RAW Cruiserweight division if he was in charge of the WWE.
Here is what he said:
“Honestly, if I had my hand in the cookie jar right now I would want the division to feel so fresh and so different from everything else I am seeing on RAW. I would avoid, as much as I could, crossover with the RAW roster. I would want all new guys that are born out of this Cruiserweight Classic. I would love to see them come in and represent that division so that it did feel distinct and it did feel unique. The first thing that’s going to happen when you start migrating guys back and forth off the current RAW roster in to the Cruiserweight division. You mix them up with some of the guys that are fresh that come out of this Cruiserweight Classic and it’s going to dilute the feeling. It’s going to be subliminal. It’ll be subconscious. People aren’t going to sit there facepalming and banging their heads on sharp objects. They aren’t going to do that but subliminally it’s going to kind of feel very similar before you know it. As soon as it starts happening it’ll lose it’s potential” (Source: Bischoff On Wrestling, H/T Wrestlezone).
