Edge Explains Why He Has Distanced Himself From WWE TV

Due to the neck injury that ended his career back in 2011, the WWE will not allow Edge to do any physical contact. In a recent interview with the Sam Roberts Wrestling Podcast, Edge explains this plays a huge factor in why he has distanced himself from WWE TV. (Note: He did have his own show on the WWE Network, but in this context he means a non-wrestling role on RAW/Smackdown each week, possibly even as a manager).

Here is what he said:

“Like, ‘if I’m going to show up, at least have me do something’. ‘Nope, you can’t’. ‘Alright, then don’t have me show up because why bother?’ That’s why I’ve kind of really distanced myself even from watching the product too much. It’s like, ‘well, I can’t do it. If you want me to come back and cut a promo on all this stuff, it’s like, I can’t really further stuff along too much because there’s no physical payoff. It’s like nobody’s going to get heat from attacking me because they’re not allowed to attack me” (Source: Sam Roberts Wrestling Podcast, H/t Wrestling Inc).

He makes a pretty good point. This is kind of what we are seeing right now with the Daniel Bryan and the Miz situation. The Miz cut that awesome promo on Talking Smack that had the wrestling world buzzing. Now there is no real payoff because Bryan isn’t cleared and we won’t be able to see them face each other. The storyline would be that much better if they were able to wrestle a match and finish it off.
