On a recent episode of E&C’s Pod of Awesomeness, Edge discussed his first Money in the Bank cash-in. In 2006, Edge cashed in his Money in the Bank contract at the New Years Revolution Pay-Per-View.
Vince McMahon came out and announced that Cena would have to defend his WWE Championship against Edge. This came immediately following Cena retaining his title in an Elimination Chamber match.
Edge came to the ring and handed his briefcase to Vince. The rest is history.
So what did Vince say to Edge in that moment? Turns out it was a pretty cool interaction:
“Prove me right, prove me right because he was the only one that was in my corner. Everybody else either thought it was too soon, after 9 years with the company [laughs]. Or didn’t think it was going to work or whatever”
He also said that Vince’s words were extremely motivating in the moment:
“Hearing that right about when I’m [about to cash-in], I was ready to chew the world apart”
Edge also revealed what Vince said to him before his Hell in a Cell match against the Undertaker
A pretty cool moment and Edge certainly proved Vince right.
