The big story of the past few days in wrestling is Kurt Angle’s return to a WWE ring for the first time in 11 years. Angle replaced Roman Reigns, who was out because of the ‘viral infection’ that is currently affecting the WWE locker room. Angle, Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose were able to pick up the victory at TLC after a wild match.
Here are some details on Angle getting cleared and his in-ring future.
According to a report from Mike Johnson of PWInsider, the idea of Angle filling in was pitched on Thursday after they found out Reigns would be unable to compete. Angle wrestling was apparently Vince McMahon’s idea.
Angle was given a physical in his hometown of Pittsburgh on Friday to see if he was medically cleared. Immediately after WWE got the thumbs up, they announced the news of all the changes for TLC.
Johnson also says that he is told that Angle returning to the ring was just a ‘one-time attraction’. The door is wide open in the future if WWE needs him since he is medically cleared.
Just goes to show you how last-minute of a decision that it really was to have Angle back in the ring. Glad that it all worked out though and the event still went on.
