As noted prior, Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn were sent home from WWE’s European Tour after Smackdown Live. Details were scarce but it appeared to be for disciplinary reasons. Multiple sources confirmed they were sent home but no one really knew why.
We now have new details on why they were sent home.
According to Ryan Satin of Pro Wrestling Sheet, Sami and Kevin went against a creative direction given to them on Smackdown Live and it contributed to them getting sent home from the tour.
Owens and Zayn were supposed to “feed” for the New Day following Kevin Owens’ attack on Kofi Kingston. Sami and Kevin didn’t follow directions for some reason and left the ring instead.
According to PWTorch, ‘feeding’ is defined as: “The heel’s role during a babyface comeback where he runs at the babyface only to be repeatedly fended off, with the hope that the series of bumps by the heel will generate positive fan heat for the babyface.”
The segment finished awkwardly as Owens & Zayn were supposed to be beaten down by the New Day but they left instead.
Satin also says that sources tell him that Owens and Zayn have been a bit difficult to work with as of late and seem to be unhappy backstage.
We will update with more information as it comes in!
