CM Punk Compares A WWE Return To ‘Going To Summer School’

CM Punk is one of the most popular wrestlers of the past decade. Ever since he left the WWE a couple of years ago, fans have been wanting him back. He left the company on bad terms (see his podcast with Colt Cabana) and hasn’t seemed interested in ever returning to the company. Punk recently spoke with the Wrestling Compadres Slamcast and was asked about a WWE return one day.

Punk says that he does miss some of the his WWE colleagues but the thought of a return gives him nightmares:

“There [are] individuals that you see on a daily basis that, one day, I just stopped seeing. There’s a quote in the movie Stand By Me, ‘friends go in and out of your life-like the busboy at your local diner’ and that’s kind of life. Screws fall in and fall out and I’ve kept in touch with some genuine folks from there and there are some that, if I run into at an airport, I’d probably hug and say, ‘hey, how are you doing?’ and catch up real quick. But, yeah, there [are] definitely people and situations, those are memories. Those are all good memories, but the thought of going back there is like the thought of going to summer school. It’s like, you have nightmares about it” (Source: The Wrestling Compadres Slamcast, H/T Wrestling Inc).

You can find the full podcast on Soundcloud or on PodcastOne.

I think we will see him back one day. This is professional wrestling and we know that Vince McMahon has mended fences in the past. Let him do his own thing right now and try other things. I think down the road somewhere it will be too hard to pass up on both sides. If Bret Hart can make amends with Vince and the WWE, I think Punk can one day.
