Chris Benoit’s Son Shuts Down Conspiracy Theory About His Dad’s Death

David Benoit was recently interviewed by Chris Van Vliet. David is the oldest son of Chris Benoit from his first marriage. During the interview, David opened up about the double murder-suicide that took the lives of Chris, Nancy, and Daniel Benoit. Below are some of the highlights from the interview (via Fightful).

David on his initial reaction to hearing the news of the double-murder suicide in 2007:

“I thought it was a joke. I really did. I really thought it was a joke. I just didn’t believe it for days. I think the day it really hit me was his funeral. That was a hard day. I was a super hard. I laid him to rest,”

David also addressed the popular conspiracy theory that Kevin Sullivan had something to do with the deaths:

“Conspiracy theories are just a joke. Just a joke. Kevin Sullivan didn’t do anything. We looked into that. We had the police look into him.”

More on how long it took him to comprehend what happened:

“It took me seven months. Just sitting there thinking. I thought about it every day. You know, why couldn’t he leave a note or called me? I would have flown down. It’s not easier [to deal with now,] but, you know, I can deal with it. I’m more educated about it. My mom told me some things. And I got a police report. It was a big one. It’s a good 300 pages from start to finish.”
