On the latest edition of Busted Open Radio, Bubba Ray Dudley spoke about WWE’s recent ratings decline. Specifically, he spoke about why the ratings are dropping and what WWE can potentially do to try and improve them.
Below are some highlights (via Wrestlezone).
Bubba on WWE’s lack of ‘mega-stars’ right now:
“It’s because the WWE has set the bar so high when it comes to star power. Rock, Austin, Undertaker, Triple H, Jericho, Brock Lesnar, Cena, these are mega stars. There are no mega-stars right now and they are what always carried WWE. Right now we have stars but none of those mega stars. That is going to affect them going forward“
“People are over, and some people are really over. I don’t know if they have anyone that is really over. It’s not about one person anymore. It’s becoming about the WWE. You come to see the WWE. You used to come to see Cena, The Rock, Austin“
Bubba added that WWE should use some of their older talents, like the Undertaker for example, to put over someone younger, like Finn Balor. This would be instead of WWE doing things like Goldberg vs the Undertaker. The goal is to try and make new mega-stars. Here are some of his comments:
