News broke on Monday afternoon that Brock Lesnar had signed a new contract with WWE. He will defend his WWE Universal Championship against Roman Reigns at the ‘Greatest Royal Rumble’ event in Saudi Arabia later this month. No details were given on Brock’s contract when WWE announced the news.
We have some more details to share with you about Brock’s contract.
According to Dave Meltzer in a report for MMAFighting, Brock re-signing with WWE doesn’t mean that he won’t fight in the UFC in 2018. Meltzer says that sources close to the situation have described Lesnar’s contract as a “short-term deal”.
This new deal allows Brock to do at least one fight in the UFC. It is unclear if the contract allows for multiple fights. Lesnar needs to re-enter the USADA drug testing pool if he wants to fight again. That means six months of clean tests in order to get back in the octagon.
Also, Jeremy Botter of Bleacher Report says that Lesnar’s new deal is only for one more match and possibly an extra TV appearance. This goes along with Meltzer saying it is a “short-term deal”.
There may be an extra TV appearance in the deal, but at most I’m told this is a two appearance deal.
