Bret Hart thinks the WWE messed up big time with Cody Rhodes.
As you likely have heard by now, Cody Rhodes has been released by the WWE (after he asked for it). The wrestling world was saddened about what could have been as he never really got the shot he deserved. Bret Hart recently spoke about the release of Cody Rhodes. He thinks the WWE made a Huge mistake letting him go.
Here is what he said in a teaser for Bret Hart Radio that is starting this week:
“I think it clearly was a case of being frustrated with the writers. The people that call the shots clearly seemed inclined not to do too much with him. I feel bad, I don’t know all of the circumstances of why he left, I shouldn’t pretend to. As far as I go as a fan of the business I think they lost a monumental Superstar. I talk to a lot of young guys in wrestling. I ask them who they watch and who they study to become better wrestlers. Cody Rhodes, he was a great worker. He threw great punches. He threw great kicks. His stuff looked tight. His moves looked tight. He didn’t look choreographed. He was a good wrestler’s wrestler. He was a guy who came from a family of wrestling. He really understood being a wrestler. His worked showed so much promise and so much talent. Even maybe more so than Wade Barrett. I think they lost a really great wrestler that they never did anything with. When they did they gave him mostly cartoon storylines. They never utilized him as an actual wrestler. He’s a guy that had so much potential. When I say, “You want to know how to throw a punch and execute a punch?” You look at Cody Rhodes. You look at so many guys in the business today that can’t throw punches very good. There’s just so much work that so many guys need that are being pushed all the time. Then you look at someone like Cody Rhodes. How they use him. How they used him at WrestleMania this year. You wonder why he’s discouraged and throws in the towel? It’s not hard. If I was him… you can only fight city hall for so long. I think they broke his spirit. It’s a shame they didn’t throw him a few more crumbs and give him a bit more of a chance. You look at what they did with Zack Ryder. I don’t have any problem with Zack Ryder but they put Zack Ryder over at WrestleMania in that Ladder Match and it didn’t even mean anything. It might have been this thing that maybe if they had done a little more with Cody Rhodes. Just give him a little bit of hope that something is coming down the road. Maybe if he had won that match instead of doing the job or being nothing in the match. I don’t blame him for being frustrated. As a fan of his I’m frustrated that they didn’t do more with him. I hope a little break from the business and a little time off and he’ll get the respect he deserves. Maybe someplace like Japan or somewhere else. Some time away from the business might be good for him. He’s got a lot of smarts and a lot of potential and I know he can go a lot of places without wrestling” (Source: WrestleZone Radio).
High praise from Bret here.

Let us know what you think!
I disagree with Bretty boy. I never once, with Stardust or ANY wrestler, be like “damn that guy can throw a good punch.”
