Braun Strowman Reveals The Origin Of His Ring Name

Braun Strowman was recently interviewed by WTMJ-TV Milwaukee. During the interview, Braun ended up revealing the origin of how he got his ring name.

It turns out that it had to do with Major League Baseball’s Milwaukee Brewers.

Strowman says that the name comes from Brewers star Ryan Braun, who baseball fans will certainly recognize.

Here is what Strowman said in the interview (h/t to Wrestling INC):

“Funny story, I wanted to meet Ryan Braun because that’s a big influence of where ‘Braun’ came from. I had pitched a bunch of ideas for names with the company and they turned them all down. It kind of got down to a time crunch, we need to figure out something out now. We were sitting around the [WWE] Performance Center and Sportscenter was on and they were talking about Ryan Braun and I was like ‘Braun, that sounds pretty good.’ I mean look at me, I’m 6’8 and 385 lbs., I mean Braun is pretty fitting.”

Speaking of Braun, here is an older story about him getting chewed out backstage by Vince McMahon.

In name-related news, here is a report on why WWE changed the name of Apollo Crews.
