Boneyard Match Rules – AJ Styles vs The Undertaker

AJ Styles vs The Undertaker has been officially confirmed to be a ‘Boneyard Match’ at Wrestlemania 36. If you are like many fans, you are wondering what the heck a ‘Boneyard Match’ is and what the rules are.

Based on an article from WWE’s website, we have the likely answer for you.

WWE’s website hints that this will simply be a ‘Buried Alive Match’ but with a different name. The article refers to it as “The Deadman’s signature bout”. It also teases AJ Styles ending up in a “hole”. Here is an excerpt from WWE.com on the match:

In his latest diatribe against The Last Outlaw and Michelle McCool, Styles all but admitted he wanted the legendary Undertaker of WrestleManias past, and in order to do so he offered to turn their WrestleMania match into The Deadman’s signature bout: A “Boneyard Match.” The Phenomenal One capped off the whole thing by promising to literally bury The Undertaker in their family plot. The bravado on display here was, for what it’s worth, incredible; that AJ Styles sure can talk. He might just be talking himself into a hole.

The Undertaker has been involved in every Buried Alive match since its creation. The objective of the match is to put your opponent in a 6-foot grave and bury them with dirt.
