3) Shane McMahon Will Be The Special Guest Referee For The Universal Title Match
WWE has confirmed that the Universal Title match at Stomping Grounds will have a special guest referee. The match will see Seth Rollins defend his Universal Title against Baron Corbin. It will be Corbin who gets to handpick the referee for the match.
I think that the referee is going to end up being Shane McMahon. This was teased in a backstage segment on RAW last week with Corbin and Shane. I think that it would make sense as Seth is best buddies with Roman Reigns, who Shane is currently feuding with. Shane also doesn’t have a match scheduled for the event, so he is free to be the referee.
WWE has been pushing Shane a lot on TV as of late and I think he is who they will go with.
2) Roman Reigns Will Help Seth Rollins Retain The Universal Championship
If Shane McMahon is the special guest referee for the Universal Title match, he is obviously going to be biased against Seth Rollins.
In order to even the odds, I definitely see Roman Reigns appearing and attacking Shane. Would make sense as a way to continue the storyline between them. This would come after Roman defeats Drew McIntyre earlier on in the show.
With Shane out of commission, this would allow another referee to come to the ring and count the three for Seth Rollins. Could be a clever finish to the match.
