Big Show Reveals What NXT Does Better Than The WWE Main Roster

The Big Show was recently a guest on the Steve Austin Show podcast, where he spoke on a wide variety of topics. One of these topics was some of the differences between NXT and the WWE Main Roster. The Big Show praised Triple H and NXT for allowing the young guys the freedom to develop their characters and personas. He also mentions that their slow build is something that WWE doesn’t do and as a result it hurts the product.

The Big Show on what NXT does right:

“They’re hungry and free and I think that’s the biggest thing that’s different with us [on the main roster] because I think [Triple H] does a real good job with NXT of understanding how to give these kids more time, give these kids a little more freedom on the mic, give these kids a little more freedom on their matches to go out there and get yourselves over” (Source: The Steve Austin Show, h/t WrestlingInc).

Why this is a better way to do things than what WWE does on the main roster:

“that’s one of the things that I think hurts our program with the three-hour RAW. There’s so much s–t crammed in there [that] guys aren’t given a lot of time to get over. Up here, you get two weeks with something and boom, it’s gone. They’re on to something else. And that’s not a fair assessment to give anybody new that [has] come in. Nobody can get anything done in two weeks. It takes time to get things done and that’s why I’m really happy with NXT because you see these kids get a chance to get over and they build a following” (Source: The Steve Austin Show, h/t WrestlingInc).

Some interesting information from a long-time veteran. I think the key is also that NXT is only an hour weekly show so you don’t see the same guys on your television every single week. I think this allows certain people to stay fresh for the audience and the crowd doesn’t get sick of them as easy. The WWE has 5 hours of tv weekly and this could be the reason for guys getting stale in the fans minds.
