We have some interesting news to pass your way about future NXT Takeover events. WWE released the travel information for Royal Rumble weekend in 2020 and fans noticed that NXT Takeover was missing from the schedule.
On the schedule, it was replaced by a ‘Worlds Collide’ event on Saturday night. This was weird since Takeover specials usually take place during the 4 big WWE weekends of the year (Survivor Series, Summerslam, Wrestlemania, and Royal Rumble).
We have an update for you.
Ryan Satin of Pro Wrestling Sheet has confirmed with WWE that this was not a mistake. ‘Worlds Collide’ will be taking place on the Saturday night of Royal Rumble weekend, instead of NXT Takeover.
While saying that, WWE is NOT getting rid of Takeover events. Here is a statement that WWE gave to PWInsider:
“That event will be Worlds Collide. The schedule of the 2020 NXT TakeOver Events will be out in the near future.”
This seems to be a hint that NXT Takeover specials will be moving to their own weekends from now on. They typically took place during big PPV weekends for WWE but we will now likely see them have more stand-alone shows.
We will let you know when WWE drops the new PPV schedule.
