6) Chris Benoit vs Triple H vs Shawn Michaels
— Wrestlemania XX
This is a match that WWE won’t promote as one of the greatest Wrestlemania matches of all time because of what happened with Chris Benoit. And we can’t fault them for distancing themselves from him.
Shawn Michaels vs Triple H vs Chris Benoit for the World Heavyweight Championship at Wrestlemania XX was a fantastic match. The three talented stars put on great performances and the crowd was into it from bell to bell.
The finish was incredible, with all three going back and forth, looking like any of them could be walking away as the champion. Benoit eventually locked in the crossface to Triple H, who was forced to tap. Chris Benoit was the World Heavyweight Champion for the first time in his career and tears streamed down his face.
He was met in the middle of the ring by one of his best friends, Eddie Guerrero who had retained his WWE Championship earlier in the night. The two embraced as confetti fell to the ground. Two underdogs on top of the WWE in an incredible moment.
Unfortunately, Benoit’s actions have tainted this and every one of his matches in the eyes of fans. I completely understand anyone who feels like they can’t watch another match of his.
This remains as one of the greatest matches in Wrestlemania history from an in-ring and storytelling aspect. One of the best Triple Threat matches of all time as well.
It earns the 6th spot on our list but we understand those who don’t include it on theirs.
5) Bret Hart vs Owen Hart
— Wrestlemania X
Many wrestling fans can relate to a sibling rivalry in some way with their own families. Bret Hart vs Owen Hart at Wrestlemania X was not only a great match between brothers but one of the best matches in Wrestlemania history.
Bret Hart was considered one of the best wrestlers in the world and one of the top guys in WWF at the time. Owen Hart was talented, but never really got the chance to shine like his older brother had.
The Hart brothers put on an incredible match, putting on full display their talents and chemistry with one another. The match was a textbook example of how to raise a mid-card talent up to the main event. Owen was able to win the match and prove to WWE fans and his brother that he was in the same class as him.
Certainly one of the best Wrestlemania matches that I have ever seen and it earns the 5th spot on our list.

1) Steamboat/Savage
2) Hogan/Andre
3) Razor/Michaels
What about the very first Wrestlemania 1 with Mr T and Hogan against R.Pipper and Mr Orndorff? It may not be the best match ever on Wrestlemania but it started the whole thing. I remember Hogan and Mr T a couple of nights before the match at David Letterman. Gosh it really started the wrestlemania…
