6) Kurt Angle vs. The Undertaker – No Way Out 2006
Kurt Angle defended his World Heavyweight Championship against the Undertaker in the main event of No Way Out 2006.
Angle and the Undertaker would put on a number of fantastic matches together throughout their careers. Some would suggest that their match together on an episode of Smackdown in 2003 (where they wrestled to a draw) was their best. I personally believe that their clash at No Way Out 2006 wins that honor.
It turned out to be an awesome match that showcased the skills of both Angle and the Deadman. Some fans argued that WWE should have saved this for Wrestlemania 22, where Angle could have been a victim of the Undertaker’s legendary streak.
The ending of the match was surprising when the Deadman locked in a triangle choke to Angle. Angle was able to roll up the Undertaker to pick up the win. Usually roll-ups are not a way you want to see matches end but in this case, I think it worked as it kept both guys looking good heading into Wrestlemania. Overall this was an entertaining match and a great display from both guys.
5) Kurt Angle and Chris Benoit vs Edge and Rey Mysterio – No Mercy 2002
Kurt Angle and Chris Benoit faced off against Edge and Rey Mysterio to determine the inaugural WWE Tag Team Champions.
This is arguably one of the best tag team matches in WWE history. It would mark the final match in the tournament to determine the new tag team champions.
An incredible display of tag team wrestling by both teams. This match was so good, it could have been the main event of the PPV and it is doubtful that many fans would have complained. 4 talented wrestlers that gave it their all from bell to bell.
Kurt would eventually force Edge to tap out with the ‘Angle Lock’. As a result, he and Chris Benoit became the first ever WWE Tag Team Champions. Overall it was a fantastic match and one of my favorite tag team matches in history.
