One of the biggest questions that remain with Smackdown LIVE after the brand split is their Women’s division. They have some solid female talent on the roster, including: Becky Lynch, Natalya and newcomers Alexa Bliss and Carmella. There is still no Women’s Championship or something to compete for on the blue brand, leading to plenty of speculation on if the WWE will do so or not.
In a recent interview with Sports Illustrated, Becky Lynch spoke about her desire for adding a Women’s title belt to Smackdown LIVE and making it the show to watch:
“We want a women’s champion on Smackdown. I would like to bring that in, but I would like to win the belt that everybody wants [Sasha Banks’ WWE women’s championship]. I want whatever storyline I’m in to be the storyline that people want to watch and care about. I want to make this women’s division worth watching on Smackdown, and make Smackdown the show to watch with enticing stories and entertainment” (Source: Sports Illustrated).

I think it makes sense for them to add a title belt for the Women. It seems odd to have a division fighting for absolutely nothing but pride. I know the roster isn’t as strong as RAW’s for female talent but they can improve upon it. Plenty of talent in NXT (like Bayley and Asuka) that will be promoted soon and they could use. Also they could ask some former talent to return and help pad the roster.
I think it is clear though that the women of the blue brand need something to compete for. Let us know what you think in the comment section below!
