Randy Orton was unable to compete at Backlash in his scheduled match against Bray Wyatt. We saw him earlier in the night being attacked backstage by Wyatt, leaving him unable to wrestle. He was replaced by Kane in the match and ended up hitting an RKO on Wyatt, allowing Kane to pick up the win.
According to a report from PWInsider, the reason why Orton was pulled from the card at Backlash is concussion related. He was unable to pass the WWE’s medical tests consistently over the past several days. Orton was busted open at Summerslam in his match against Brock Lesnar where he needed 10 staples in his head.
Kane replacing Orton was reportedly not a last second decision and has been in place for the past several days in case Orton was unable to perform. We saw Orton hit an RKO to end the match but that was the only thing he was involved with physically.
It should be noted that Orton’s status is very questionable for the Brock Lesnar re-match at the house show in Chicago on September 24th.
This will extend the Wyatt, Orton feud likely into the WWE No Mercy PPV next month.

Let us know what you think in the comment section below. Hopefully he is good to go very soon and this doesn’t linger any further. You never really know with concussions. I think the WWE will think twice before letting someone take elbows like Orton did at Summerslam from Brock Lesnar.
