News broke on Thursday that WWE had released a few wrestlers from NXT. The most notable name was Abbey Laith, who made it to the quarterfinals of the Mae Young Classic tournament.
Another tournament participant Sage Beckett was also released, as well as a developmental talent who used the ring name: Ming.
We have an update on the releases.
Mike Johnson of PWInsider says that he is told the releases are “just a case of talent being cut as opposed to heat on them”.

He adds that there is so much talent at the WWE Performance Center at the moment. If the company doesn’t feel as if someone is positively progressing over a period of time, those wrestlers have to go.
There were rumors that former NFL Player Demitrius Bronson might have been released by WWE as well. That is still unclear but Johnson adds that he is out of action with a really bad concussion.
Let us know what you think. Did any of the releases surprise you?
