Kurt Angle has been on his farewell tour over the past few weeks. This includes matches against Apollo Crews, Chad Gable, Samoa Joe, and more.
All of these are leading towards his farewell match at Wrestlemania 35, where he will be facing Baron Corbin.
We have a backstage note to pass your way about Angle’s opponents on his farewell tour before Wrestlemania 35.
According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio (subscribe here), all of these opponents have been hand-picked by Angle.
Angle was able to choose the opponents that he wanted to face on his farewell tour. However, the only opponent that he wasn’t able to choose was Baron Corbin, who he will be facing at Wrestlemania. As noted prior, Angle was reportedly hoping for someone else for the final match of his career.
My Take: This actually makes a ton of sense. Why else would guys like Samoa Joe or Rey Mysterio be switching over to RAW to face Angle? The only thing that really makes sense is that Angle requested a bunch of Smackdown guys to face and WWE is accommodating his wishes. This is probably to make up for him not getting to choose his opponent at Wrestlemania.
