The last time that WWE travelled to Saudi Arabia was for the Crown Jewel event in October. After the show was over, the WWE plane had an issue and many Superstars couldn’t leave the country for about 24 hours. This sparked many rumors about what had happened and if there was something more at play.
Mike Johnson of PWInsider has provided some backstage insight into how the WWE locker room feels about going to Saudi Arabia for Super Showdown.
Here is what Johnson said (h/t to Ringside News for the quote below):
“I have been told that basically in the company there was an unofficial edict that stated like ‘We’re all going together, we’re all staying together, nobody is leaving early if there’s an issue, everybody is staying together.’ If you’re not a wrestler and you’re part of the support staff you’re not leaving until the wrestlers leave because there was some anger on the wrestlers’ end that some people who worked for the company left before the wrestlers did and the wrestlers got stuck.”
My Take:
- I don’t blame the locker room for this as I would be pissed if I was stuck for 24 hours and others on the roster left in a private jet.
