The major story of the day on Tuesday was Daniel Bryan being cleared by WWE to return to the ring [read WWE’s press release here]. Bryan was forced to retire a few years back but has been adamant about his desire to return to the squared circle.
We have a backstage update on Bryan getting cleared. This comes to us from Dave Meltzer of F4Wonline. Here are some of the key points:
– Meltzer says that Bryan asked WWE’s Medical Director, Dr. Joseph Maroon, who he thinks are the leading experts in the field. This was so he could work to gain clearance from them. Bryan proceeded to get cleared from all of the doctors that Maroon suggested. Meltzer also says that Dr. Jeffrey Kutcher played a big role in helping Bryan get clearance from Maroon.
– Meltzer adds that the likely plan is Daniel Bryan and Shane McMahon vs Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn. There was also a backup plan if Daniel couldn’t get cleared. Bryan being cleared was reportedly considered much more likely in recent weeks than it ever had been.

– WWE also wanted to make sure that Bryan stays with the company moving forward.
– Sapp says that Bryan passed the testing beyond what was expected of him.
